Nailbomb was a heavy metal band formed in 1994 as side project by Brazilian musician Max Cavalera of Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly and English musician Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel.[2] The band recorded one studio album, Point Blank, and played one live performance before disbanding the next year.[2]

History

Nailbomb hosted other musicians to play guest spots, including D.H. Peligro (Dead Kennedys), Max Cavalera's brother Igor Cavalera (Sepultura co-founder), and guitarist Dino Cazares (co-founder and guitarist of Fear Factory).[2] Nailbomb's second album, Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide, was a live recording capturing the band's appearance at the 1995 Dynamo Open Air Festival in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.[2]

The project has largely been abandoned for over two decades, with no intention of the band ever reuniting or releasing any new material. However, in April 2017 Max announced he will play the entire 'Point Blank' album under his band Soulfly, later in 2017. However, Alex Newport is not set to be part of these performances, with Max citing his busy schedule as the reason. Instead, he drafted his son Igor Jr. (also of Lody Kong) into Soulfly as vocalist and keyboardist/sampler in order to perform Alex's parts.
