National Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad known as NIFT Hyderabad is a fashion design institute located in Hyderabad, India.[1] The institute is located at Madhapur, the heart of IT hub of Hyderabad.[2][3] It is near the Hitec City metro station.[4]

History

The National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi was set up in 1986 by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Campus

The campus is on a land of 8 acre (3.24 hectare) provided by Government of Telangana. The campus was designed by architect, Sanjay Mohe of Mindspace architects. There is a cafeteria, popular among students. The resource Centre has a Library wing and Materials wing. The centre has separate wings like design labs, pattern making labs and machine labs for the students.

Courses

NIFT, Hyderabad in parallel with other centres of the institute across India, offers four-year undergraduate Bachelor of Design and technology and the two-year post-graduate Masters degrees in Design, Fashion Management and Fashion Technology.

Currently, NIFT Hyderabad offers six under-graduate and one post-graduate programmes:

  • Fashion Technology (Apparel Production)

Admission

Students are selected through a Common Entrance Examination process, which comprises a written entrance examination; situation test; and, in some cases, group discussion and interviews.

NIFT Hyderabad has involved in a project to revive the khadi industry in the region. It is one of the 16 campuses of NIFT- a Central Government of India's training institution for design, technology and management.[5]
