Musixmatch is a platform for users to search and share lyrics. It is the largest platform of this kind in the world[2] having 73 million users, 14 million lyrics and 30 employees.[1][3]

It is accessible via the web and mobile apps for iOS [4] and Android[5] devices.

Musixmatch displays lyrics synchronised with music being played.[5] On its native apps, it can scan all the songs in a user's music library and find lyrics for them all, and be used as a music player. On Android, it also supports music streaming services like Spotify, Google Play Music, Deezer, Rhapsody, and Rdio.[6]

Musixmatch was founded in Bologna, Italy, on January 21, 2010, by Massimo Ciociola,[7] Gianluca Delli Carri, Francesco Delfino, and Giuseppe Costantino.

It went live in July 2010 and, as of January 2015, Musixmatch has raised $12.1 million in angel and venture capital funding.[2] Musixmatch has signed agreements with publishers such as EMI Publishing and Warner/Chappell Music.[8]

The company used to provide Spotify's Lyrics UI on Spotify Desktop[9] for years until this was discontinued during May 2016.[10]
