Mr. McGibblets (''The League'')
"Mr. McGibblets" is the fourth episode of the first season of the FX (TV channel) television series The League. The episode originally aired on November 19, 2009 and was written by Jeff Schaffer, Jackie Marcus Schaffer, and Craig DiGregorio and directed by Jeff Schaffer.
Plot
Rodney Ruxin (Nick Kroll) is upset with his standing in the league, while Pete Eckhart (Mark Duplass) is deciding whether or not to go on the spa weekend he had planned with Meegan (Leslie Bibb) before their divorce. Andre Nowzick (Paul Scheer) offers to go with Pete. Kevin MacArthur (Stephen Rannazzisi), Taco MacArthur (Jon Lajoie), and Ruxin are all busy, so Pete agrees to take Andre.
Ellie MacArthur (Alina Foley) and Kevin are playing with her singing and dancing toy, Mr. McGibblets, whom Kevin hates. Pete asks Kevin if Kevin can go with him to his old apartment and help him retrieve a sex tape that Pete and Meegan had made; it's hidden in a DVD copy of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (film). The talk of breaking and entering gives Kevin an idea of how to get rid of Mr. McGibblets: he asks Pete to dress up in a Mr. McGibblets costume, come to the house in the middle of the night, and scare Ellie, hoping she will then be too upset to ever play with the toy again. Pete tells him to get Taco to do it, which Kevin agrees is a better idea.
Pete and Kevin sneak into the apartment. Pete looks for the DVD while Kevin goes through Meegan's underwear. Kevin reveals he is always nervous about someone breaking into his own home, and has hired nightly neighborhood patrol.
Andre and Pete arrive at the spa to find Ruxin waiting to join them. The desk clerk, Claire (Claire Coffee), mistakes Pete and Andre for a couple, but Pete explains that Andre is there in place of his ex-wife. Claire flirts with Pete for a moment before sending them up to their suite. The guys go up to their room to discover there are only two beds. Ruxin claims to have sleep apnea, therefore needing his own bed, leaving Pete and Andre to share the other. Andre and Ruxin try to convince Pete to go after Claire, but he believes she was only being helpful, not flirtatious.
Kevin is home working on his line up when Taco, dressed as Mr. McGibblets, appears outside the window holding a cleaver. Kevin takes the cleaver and tells Taco to go upstairs and scare Ellie. Taco asks if he can keep the costume until it has to be returned to the rental store, which Kevin says is fine.
Pete and Andre are at the couples massage when Pete tries to bring up a trade. Andre does not want to, saying Pete "trade raped" him last year.
Taco goes up to Ellie's room and attempts to scare her, but Ellie is delighted to see her favorite friend come to life. She gets out of bed to show him around the house. Not knowing what else to do, Taco goes with her. Ellie gives him a sack and starts putting household items in it as gifts for Mr. McGibblets. The neighborhood patrol sees Taco leaving the house with the sack and start to follow him. Taco starts running, and the officers lose him down an alleyway.
Taco climbs into bed with Ruxin, telling him that he has to skip town for a while to escape "the neighborhood fuzz."
Kevin comes downstairs in the morning to find a huge mess in the house made by Ellie and Taco during the night.
Pete and Andre wake up Ruxin and Taco so they don't miss any more of the day's activities. They all attend a wine tasting, where Andre announces he is determined to find Pete a girlfriend. Kevin shows up, angry with Taco about all the items stolen from the house. Andre is annoyed that one more person has crashed his weekend with Pete and tells Kevin to leave. Claire tells Pete to let her know if he needs anything, and after some more convincing from the guys that she is into him, he goes after her. She walks him to a quiet spot on the grounds where they kiss.
Ruxin is still complaining about his players and driving everyone crazy. Andre reveals he ended up making the trade with Pete, which Kevin explains was a "trade rape" because the player Pete gave Andre is in jail.
Pete takes Claire up to his room, where Andre is drunk and watching Pete's sex tape, which he thought was Benjamin Button. Claire leaves, disgusted.
Ruxin is in the hot tub where he is joined by Antonio Gates, the player he is most frustrated with. They bicker, and Ruxin slaps Antonio. The entire group is kicked out of the spa.
Kevin is walking through the front yard talking on the phone, carrying the Mr. McGibblets costume and the bag of stolen goods. He passes in front of the neighborhood patrol and one of them tackles him from behind, thinking he's caught the right perp.
