Mike Sandbothe

Mike Sandbothe (born June 26, 1961) is a German intellectual, philosopher and professor of culture and media at Jena University of Applied Sciences.

He is co-founder of the new branch of media philosophy and one of the main proponents of philosophical pragmatism in Europe. He held professorships for Media Culture Studies at Friedrich Schiller University Jena as well as for Media Philosophy at Berlin University of the Arts and at Aalborg University Copenhagen. As a cultural political advisor he has worked with various cultural political organizations such as Archiv der Zukunft in Hamburg and Nomad Academy in Copenhagen. Among his various English publications are The Temporalization of Time (2001; German 1998), The Pragmatic Turn (2004), Pragmatic Media Philosophy (2005; in German: 2001), and From Pragmatist Philosophy to Cultural Politics (2013). His most recent work deals with the topics "Healthy Teaching and Learning", "Spiritual Education", and "Pragmatism as Cultural Politics".

He lives in Erfurt with his wife and children.
