Michael Murphy (born 15 April 1939 in Reading, Berkshire) is a former amateur footballer with Reading FC, who played in the English Football League, Division 3 South, as a goalkeeper. He also played for several amateur clubs, including Thorneycroft Athletic FC (in the Hampshire League), Redhill FC (in the Athenian League), and - (whilst doing his National Service) - Wembley FC (in the Corinthian League). His two first team appearances for Reading FC were in a league match against Brentford (lost 2-1), and a London Charity Cup fixture against QPR (drew 1-1).
