Michalis Pelekanos (alternate spelling: Mihalis) (Greek: Μιχάλης Πελεκάνος) (born May 25, 1981) is a Greek professional basketball player, who is playing for Oiakas Nafpliou. He is 199 cm (6'612") tall, and he can plays as either a shooting guard or a small forward, with small forward being his main position.

Professional career

Born Koridalos, Piraeus, Athens, Greece, Pelekanos began his pro career in Greece with Peristeri of the Greek League. He later joined the Greek club AEK Athens, followed by the Greek club Panellinios. After a career year at Panellinios, where he made the home crowd fans chant his name during games, due to his exciting defensive plays and highlight reel dunks, Pelekanos moved to the EuroLeague giants Real Madrid of the Spanish ACB League.[1]

In 2008, he signed a 3-year contract worth 2.1 million euros net income with the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus. In August 2009, he was loaned by Olympiacos to the Greek club Maroussi.[2] He won both the EuroLeague and Greek League championships, with Olympiacos in 2012.

He then signed with the Greek club Aris, for the 2012–13 season.[3] In July 2014, he moved to the Romanian League club CSU Asesoft Ploiești, on a one-year deal.[4] With Ploiești, he won the Romanian League championship.

In July 2015, he returned to Aris, signing a two-year contract with the club.[5] He was officially released from the team on July 21, 2016. He then moved to the Greek club Panionios, where played for one season, in the Greek 2nd Division.

Greek national team

Pelekanos was a member of the senior men's Greek national basketball team that competed at the EuroBasket 2007. He was also selected to the Greek national team for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
