The Melanesian megapode or Melanesian scrubfowl (Megapodius eremita) is a species of bird in the family Megapodiidae. It is found in Bismarck Archipelago (Papua New Guinea) and the Solomon Islands. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

First described by Gustav Hartlaub in 1867, it is a member of the scrubfowl genus Megapodius.

Description

It is black all over except a red cap. its claws are long.
