Maya Ali (born 27 July 1989)[2] is a Pakistani actress, model and VJ, mostly known for her roles in Pakistani television dramas. She made her film debut with Teefa in Trouble (2018) opposite Ali Zafar[3]

Career

Maya Ali started her career as a video jockey at Samaa TV, Waqt News and Dunya News.[4] She then appeared in drama Durr-e-Shahwar; and then starred in Aik Nayee Cinderella and Aunn Zara, both along with Osman Khalid Butt.[5][6][7][8]

In 2014, Ali was cast in Shanakht, in which she played the role of Qurat-ul-Ain, who follows Islam but is criticized by her family and society.[9] Ali also starred as Saman in Zid alongside Ahsan Khan.[10]

In 2015, Ali worked in Mehreen Jabbar's Mera Naam Yousuf Hai. She played the role of Zulaikha alongside Imran Abbas.[11] The same year she played the role of Farah alongside Osman Khalid Butt in Diyar-e-Dil, for which they won Hum Award for Best on-screen Couple by Jury.[8][12]

In 2016, Ali starred as Manahil in Mann Mayal along with Hamza Ali Abbasi, for which she won Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress.[13] She then also appeared in Sanam along with Osman Khalid Butt and Hareem Farooq.[8][14]

In January 2017, she signed Ahsan Rahim's debut romantic action-comedy film Teefa in Trouble as a co-star with Ali Zafar. It is the debut of both the actors too in Pakistan film industry, which released on 20 July 2018.[15][16] On 19 April 2017, they both performed in the 16th Lux Style Awards on Zafar's song "Ishq",[17][18] and it was the first time when she performed on the stage of Lux Style Awards.[13] She was the Brand Ambassador of Quetta Gladiators in 2018 Pakistan Super League.[19]
