Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien is a weekly American public-affairs television talk program. The show is produced by Hearst Television and hosted by journalist Soledad O'Brien; it airs on the Hearst-owned TV stations serving 26 U.S. TV markets and is distributed to other stations in national broadcast television syndication by Sony Pictures Television. The show airs on TV stations around the country in weekend program slots, in many markets in the Sunday morning talk program block. It also airs on a one-week-delayed basis at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time on Saturdays on fyi, part of A+E Networks, which is co-owned by Hearst Television parent Hearst.

The program was launched in September 2016.[1] For the prior, 2015-2016, TV season, the show's first, "Matter of Fact" was hosted by entrepreneur and political commentator Fernando Espuelas.[2] Beginning with the 2016-2017 TV season, O'Brien succeeded Espuelas in the hosting role. She is also a producer of the show, through her company Starfish Media.

A September 2017 "Matter of Fact" special,[3] hosted by O'Brien, aired in prime-time on stations including WCVB-TV in Boston[4], WESH-TV in Orlando[5] and WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh [6] addressing the nationwide opioid-abuse crisis.

In January 2018 it was announced[7] that Jillian O'Brien (no relation) would be the show's new executive producer, succeeding Rita Aleman. The show's executive in charge of production is Emerson Coleman, Hearst Television senior vice president of programming.[8]

In April 2018 it was announced that the program had been renewed for the 2018-2019 TV season, and that new agreements with multiple station groups had expanded the show's audience reach in broadcast syndication for the coming season to 90 percent of U.S. TV households.[9]
