Palm Valley School is a private, college-preparatory school located in Rancho Mirage, California, United States.

History

Palm Valley School was formed in 1952 in Palm Springs, CA. Founders were Mr. and Mrs. J. Blake Field. In 1992, the Palm Valley School then moved to Rancho Mirage, CA where it now stands.

Marywood Country Day School was formed in 1979 by founder Dr. Mary O'Neill. In 1986, Marywood Country Day School relocated to Rancho Mirage, CA.

In 2005, Palm Valley School and Marywood Country Day School merged. They became Marywood-Palm Valley School and eventually joined to one campus in 2009. The Phoenix or Firebird was selected as the new Mascot to symbolize "rebirth."

The Board of Trustees approved a name change back to "The Palm Valley School" in July 2013 and officially named the Lower School Campus the "Marywood" Lower School.

The school today

The school currently serves all grades from Preschool through Grade 12 starting at 6 weeks on 34 acres of campus in Rancho Mirage, CA. The campus features separate campuses and buildings for each division with a total enrollment of 350 students. Preschool (6 weeks - 4 years) Lower School (Grades K - 5th) Middle School (Grades 6 - 8) Upper School (Grades 9 - 12)

The average class size is under 20 with a student to teacher ratio of approx. 1:12. The College Counseling program graduates 100% of the senior class and 100% get accepted to college and university. The motto is "Paratus Vitae" ("Prepared for Life").
