The Market for Computer & Video Games (short MCV, formerly The Market for Home Computing & Video Games) is a United Kingdom-based media brand which focuses on business aspects of the video game industry, including development, publishing, marketing and retail. It is published monthly and is available online or via print subscription.[2]
MCV and Japanese video game magazine Famitsu have an exclusive partnership which sees news and content from each magazine appear in the other.[3]
In November 2017, owner NewBay Media announced that in early 2018, the website and magazine of Develop would be absorbed into MCV, with the combined title moving to a monthly frequency.[4][5] In 2018, Future acquired NewBay Media.[6]
Awards
The MCV Awards first started in 2002, and each year the awards are open to games publishers, retail and distribution, with entries peer-voted and judged by an independent panel of specialists. 2017 marks their 15th anniversary, and each year the awards are sponsored by various companies in the video games industry. In 2017, Dingit.tv was announced as Headline Sponsor, while Aardvark Swift, Gamescom, OPM Recruitment and Playwire Media all backed the event as Event Sponsors.[7]
