Major Asaram Tyagi, VC, MVC was hero of 1965 India-Pakistan war, who made supreme sacrifice on 26 September 1965 after destroying the frontline of the enemy.[1][2][3][4][5]

Memorial songs

In the memory of battle of Dograi a lots of songs are popular in Hariyana till date. One of them narrates this battle in these words:

Kahe suney ki baat na bolun ankho dekhi bhai,
Teen Jaat ki katha sunaun sun le mere bhai,
Paanch Sitambar raat ghaneri hamla Jaton ne maari,
Dusman me much gayi khalbali kaanp uthi Dograi.[6]

Military recognition

For displaying exceptional gallantry for the nation Major Asharam Tyagi was decorated with Maha Vir Chakra, posthumously.[7]
