MRM//McCann is an international direct and digital marketing agency. It is a subsidiary of McCann Worldgroup,[1] along with McCann and several other specialized marketing agencies, and McCann Worldgroup is one of the three major networks in the Interpublic Group of Companies.[2]

The agency builds customer utility, which it defines as a measurement of content and context in the service of the brand, to attract, engage, acquire and retain consumers and business decision makers. MRM//McCann’s suite of offerings includes original content creation, digital strategy, cross-media analytics, technology strategy, technology digestion, and web design.

Its best known creative work includes the design, maintenance and marketing programs for MasterCard (Priceless.com), the U.S. Army (GoArmy.com), Nikon (StunningNikon.com), and Microsoft (Clearification.com and others).[3]

Based in New York City, it has been ranked among the top ten digital agencies in the world by size, according to Adweek, MediaPost, and RECMA.[4] It has been named B2B Magazine's "Direct Agency of the Year" for the three consecutive years it was eligible (2004, 2006, and 2008). In 2012, MRM received both the Crain's BtoB "Top Interactive Agency 2012" and "Top Direct Agency" honors.

History

The history of MRM//McCann is rooted in March Advertising & Direct Marketing, a marketing agency founded in 1962. McCann Erickson acquired the firm in 1985 and renamed it McCann Direct. Since this acquisition, the company has undergone several rebrandings.

In 1996, when Stanley Rapp joined as head of the company, McCann Direct was renamed McCann Relationship Marketing (MRM). In 2001, when Zentropy Partners was merged into MRM, the agency was renamed MRM Partners, and in 2005, when Reuben Hendell became CEO, it took the name MRM Worldwide. MRM//McCann began using its current name in 2014.
