List of cities by international visitors

This is a list of 100 cities in the world ranked by the number of international visitors, including all international arrivals by land, sea, or plane, for tourist or business purposes. Since the two sources of advisor Euromonitor and the corporation Mastercard define the concept of the foreign visitor differently, their respective rankings differ. In addition, the lists can be based on different source data.

Top 100 according to Euromonitor (2017)

List of the world's 100 most visited cities in 2017 according to the Top 100 City Destinations ranking. To count as a visitor to a city, a person must have spent at least 24 hours in each city. Also indicated is the growth in international arrivals compared to the previous year. For cities bordering directly on foreign territory, border crossings from country to country are not counted (for example between Singapore and the neighboring Malaysia).^[1]

List of the world's 100 most visited cities in 2016 according to the Mastercard Global Destinations Cities Index. To be counted as a visitor, a person must have stayed overnight at least once in each city. Also stated are the expenses made by the visitors of the respective city. For cities bordering directly on foreign territory, border crossings from country to country are not counted as international visitors.^[2]
