This is a list of characters that appear through the Uta no Prince-sama franchise.

Main characters

  • Haruka Nanami (七海 春歌, Nanami Haruka)
Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro
The main heroine of the series and the character that is controlled by the player in the games. Haruka's dream is to become a composer so she can make a song for her idol, Hayato. Following that dream, she enrolls into Saotome Academy, and enters into Class A (in the games, the player can choose between Class A and Class S). Her roommate is Tomochika Shibuya. In the anime, Haruka's backstory changes: she has lived with her grandmother since she was little due to sickness and discovered Hayato when she heard his song on a trip to the city, and she didn't know anything about music prior to enrolling into Saotome Academy. She's hard-working and gentle, and wants everyone to be happy, which grabs the attention of six boys, seven later in the series, and eleven in the third season. She's 15 years old in the first game.

ST☆RISH

  • Syo Kurusu (来栖 翔, Kurusu Shō)
Voiced by: Hiro Shimono
A student of Class S, nicknamed "Munchkin" due to his short stature, much to his chagrin. He's very cheerful, energetic and confident although he occasionally lets his anger get the best of him. He has an identical twin brother, Kaoru. Syo is Natsuki's roommate and childhood friend. He deeply admires Hyuga Ryuya and wishes to be like him. Syo is the third boy to tell Haruka that he wants her as his partner for the graduation audition. In the game, he has a heart problem which makes his brother very worried for him. In the anime, he has a fear of heights, but gets over it with help from the others and Mr. Saotome. He plays the violin. His character color is pink and he represents the first letter of ST☆RISH - S, but until the second season of anime he represented the sixth letter - also S.
  • Tokiya Ichinose (一ノ瀬 トキヤ, Ichinose Tokiya)
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano
A student in Class S, he bears a strong resemblance to Haruka's idol, Hayato. He's said to be Hayato's identical twin brother and seems to bear a complex from being in his brother's shadow. He appears to be cold and aloof, as well as being a perfectionist. In the anime both his pitch and rhythm are perfect, but he gets criticized for having no "heart" in his music, and by his score he flunks out of Class S, and gets put into Class A. Tokiya is Otoya's roommate. It's later revealed he's actually Hayato, and that he enrolled into Saotome Academy to debut as himself, as he's grown to despise the Hayato act. But when encouraged by Haruka to sing, he gladly accepted, and started to develop feelings toward her, making him the sixth boy who wants to be Haruka's graduation partner. He believes his voice is his strongest instrument, so his musical specialty is his vocals, although he can basically play with almost any instrument. His character color is purple and he represents "T" of ST☆RISH.
  • Cecil Aijima (愛島 セシル, Aijima Cecil)
Voiced by: Kousuke Toriumi
The prince of Agnapolis who was cursed to turn into a black cat, who Haruka named "Kuppuru." While he was a cat, he fell in love with Haruka, which later made jealousy sprout inside the ST☆RISH boys. In the first game, he joins Saotome Academy after being freed of his curse. In Debut and the anime's second season, he's scouted by Saotome to be in the idol course. He also, in the anime of the second season (Uta no Prince Sama 2000% Maji Love) joins ST☆RISH and becomes the "A" (the ☆) in their name. He is very cheerful, sensitive and later become the model of modesty and respect. His instrument speciality is flute and he is supposedly 14 years old when he first appears in the anime, although he could be older considering the time he was cursed but if not he could be actually the youngest boy from ST☆RISH. His character color is lime green.
  • Ren Jinguji (神宮寺 レン, Jingūji Ren)
Voiced by: Junichi Suwabe
A student in Class S, he is the third son of the Jingūji family, making him rivals with Masato, who is also his roommate. He is very flirtatious. However, it is revealed that he is more than just a superficial person. Ren affectionately calls Haruka "lady" and "little lamb." Ren is the second boy to tell Haruka that he wants her as his partner for the graduation audition, and even brought a bouquet of roses for his proposal. He, Masato and Ranmaru were childhood friends because they were all "heirs to rich corporations". However, as they grew up to know their "positions", they haven't talked to each other since. Ren's mother, a famous idol, passed away when he was very young. His father did not want to have any memories of her so he took away all of the CDs and videos except one, which Ren found and realized it was dedicated to him, thus inspiring him to become an artist. He plays the saxophone. His character color is orange and he represents "R" - the middle letter of ST☆RISH.

In the anime, Otoya is the first boy to tell Haruka that he wants her as his partner for the graduation audition. He's 15 years old in the first game. His character color is red and he represents "I" of ST☆RISH. He is considered to be the de facto leader of the group.
  • Natsuki Shinomiya (四ノ宮 那月, Shinomiya Natsuki)
Voiced by: Kishou Taniyama
A student from Class A. He has an extreme fondness for cute and small things, leading him to take a liking to Haruka. He shares a room with Syo, whom he claims to be as cute as Haruka and is very affectionate towards him. A running gag in the anime is that Haruka reminds Natsuki of his dog Elizabeth. Natsuki is the fourth boy to tell Haruka that he wants her as his partner for the graduation audition. He likes cooking, though his food is usually disastrous and inedible. He has a split personality; when he takes his glasses off, he becomes a violent person named Satsuki, but reverts back to Natsuki when he puts his glasses back on. Satsuki is aggressive and rude, but is more musically talented than Natsuki. In the game, Natsuki is very much aware of Satsuki's presence, however in the anime he only has the ominous feeling that someone is watching over him and never has any memories of what happens when he becomes Satsuki. This changes in episode 7 of Legend Star. He plays the viola, though he used to play the violin. He's 17 years old in the first game. Student of Class A and the oldest son and heir to the Hijirikawa Group. He was raised in a strict environment, making him very serious. His way of thinking is a little old-fashioned, and he's unable to show his real self due to his serious nature. He seems to have some form of rivalry going on with Ren, with whom he shares a room. Masato begins to show his soft side as he gets closer to Haruka and the other STARISH members. Masato is the fifth boy to tell Haruka that he wants her as his partner for the graduation audition, but by letter. In the game it is revealed that he, Ranmaru and Ren were childhood friends because they were all "heirs to rich corporations." He has a strained relationship with his father due to the fact that he has chosen to become an idol rather than the head of the Hijrikawa family. He plays the piano. He's 16 years old in the first game. His character color is dark blue and he represents the last letter of ST☆RISH.
