List of Type XXI submarines

This is a complete list of German Type XXI submarines. Fifteen hundred boats of this design were intended (U-2501 to U-4000), the first five hundred ordered from Deutsche Werft at Hamburg, another five hundred from AG Weser at Bremen, and a final five hundred from Schichau at Danzig,[1], but only those listed below were completed, and most that did never saw service and were scuttled. Of those built at Hamburg, U-2532 was destroyed by RAF bombing on 31 December 1944, U-2523 on 17 January 1945, and U-2509, U-2514, U-2516, U-2537, U-2547, U-2549 and U-2552 on 8 April 1945, while USAAF bombing there destroyed U-2515 and U-2530 on 11 March 1945.[2]
