Sawa Konishi

Konishi Sawa (小西纱和) Voiced By: Noriko Shitaya

Sawa is a nice, warm-hearted 15-year-old girl who always tries her best. She applied to her new high school, Amabane High School, because she liked the uniform. On her first day, she meets Akira Nagashima who tells Sawa that Amabane High School used to be an all-boys school. Sawa then meets Ran Matsuyuki, who she thought was a nice person, but starts hating him afterwards. However, Sawa and Ran later become very close, and they even start dating with each other. She and Ran later break up due to his insecurities. Sawa then briefly dates Sugishita, but still loves Ran. At the end of the manga, she and Ran get back together. Years later, she marries Ran and has a son named Aoi.

Ran Matsuyuki

Matsuyuki Ran (松雪藍) Voiced By: Takahiro Sakurai

Ran seems to be the "boss" like figure among his friends in their class. His Father, the Chairman of Amabane High School, has high expectations for Ran. His mother was the one who helped him get through his father's demands, but when she died, Ran jumped off the roof in middle school attempting to commit suicide, only suffering minor injuries. Ever since then, his friends have always been watching out for him. Despite how rude he seems to be towards Sawa in the beginning, he really cares about her. He shares a kiss with Sawa and confesses his love to her on his birthday. They start dating afterwards, but later break up because he didn't want Sawa's gentle personality to spoil him. But, he still loves her and shows it after she dates Sugishita. At the end of the series, he asks her to give him a second chance and they reconcile. Years later, Ran becomes a teacher at their high school, is married to Sawa, and has a son named Aoi.

Akira Nagashima

Nagashima Akira (永島晶) Voiced By: Mamiko Noto

Akira is a teenage girl who doesn't like troublesome situations. She is Sawa's unofficial best friend and she is always there giving her friend gossip and stories from the past and present. Akira says her reason for transferring to the new co-ed school is because there is a lot of "good material" there, for her dream is to become a manga artist. After Sawa and Ran start dating, Akira starts to doubt Sawa, saying that Sawa only befriended her because they were the only two girls in class, and that Sawa was actually like the girls that used to make fun of her in middle school. Sawa proves that she liked Akira as a friend, and then they were okay. Taguchi confessed and asked her out, but Akira already seems to have feelings for Tsubaki, and at first refuses to confess. However, she later reveals that Akira is in love with Tsubaki and confesses. He rejects her, saying he will not get involved with anybody for now. Though at the end of the series, at their graduation, she and Tsubaki become a couple, and years later, they get engaged. She fulfills her longtime goal and becomes a manga artist.

Junichi Tsubaki

(椿純一, Tsubaki Jun'ichi?) Voiced By: Kazuya Kobayashi

One of Sawa's classmates and Ran's closest friend. He is one of the first to be aware of Sawa and Ran's relationship. He was in the basketball club with Ran and Kido until the third quarter of their second year of middle school. Tsubaki is very caring of Ran. In an extra chapter, Akira reveals that he has two older sisters (it was inside her notepad of research). He is number two on the list of people Akira can't handle, right behind Sawa. Although Akira is in love with Tsubaki, she knew that he has always loved Ran. He has no intentions of trying anything, and continues to protect Ran from afar. The only thing he wants is for Ran to be happy, which was why when Ran and Sawa broke up, Tsubaki became upset, as Sawa was the first girl who made Ran change. Later after Akira criticizes Ran for being insensitive towards the people around him, he notices how much she cares for him and starts to fall for her. At graduation, he kisses her and returns her feelings. Years later, they get engaged.

Satoshi Kido

Kido Satoshi (城户智史) Voiced By: Tetsuya Kakihara

One of Sawa's classmates and Ran's close friend. At first, he was mean to Sawa along with his other friends, but defended her with Ogawa after their gym teacher hit her and pushed her to the ground. He was in the basketball club with Ran and Tsubaki until the third quarter of their second year of middle school. After he and his friends went to Sawa's house for a study party, Kido discovers that he actually had feelings for Sawa. Kido was originally unaware of Sawa's relationship with Ran, but finds out later on. Along with his sister, who happens to have a crush on Ran, they try to break the pair up. Their attempt was unsuccessful and he comes to accept their relationship.

Tomoki Ogawa

Ogawa Tomoki (小川朋樹) Voiced By: Taketoshi Kawano

One of Sawa's classmates and Ran's close friends. His family owns a beauty parlor called "Hairsolon Brook," therefore, he always has perfect hair (Stated by Sawa). He has an older sister. At first, he was mean to Sawa along with his other friends, but defended her with Kido after their gym teacher hit her and pushed her to the ground. He usually wears a bandana on his head and had his lip pierced. He was in the soccer club with Taguchi until the third quarter of their second year of middle school. He realizes his dream to become a hair and makeup stylist after Sugishita takes him to a photo shoot. After revealing that he planned to study abroad after highschool, Kido becomes upset and worries that they'll grow apart. Ogawa is able to calm down Kido's hurt feelings and they make up. Years later Ogawa does accomplish his dreams and becomes a renowned stylist.

Souta Taguchi

Taguchi Souta (田口草太) Voiced By: Hideki Nakanishi

One of Sawa's classmates and Ran's close friends. He wears the square glasses. He is a pretty hardcore otaku and relates to Akira since he was like her when he was in middle school, but the reason why he isn't antisocial now is because Kido and the other boys kept on pushing themselves to be friends with him. He was in the soccer club with Ogawa until the third quarter of their second year of middle school. He tells Sawa to keep on pushing herself until Akira accepts her. After seeing how much he has in common with Akira, he confesses and asks her out. Akira tells him that she need time to think, but in the end she does not return his feelings, for she's already in love with someone else. They both decide to remain friends. Taguchi is handy with computers and at the end of the series, it's told that he has an occupation as a computer programmer.

Ayaka Kido

The younger sister of Satoshi. She likes Ran and asked him to make a promise that he would date her if she passed the entrance exam to get into Amabane High School, in which Ran agrees to without paying much atterntion. But, when she passed the exam Ran told her to forget about the promise because he is already going out with Sawa. She knows that Satoshi likes Sawa and she convinced him to help her ruin Ran and Sawa's relationship, so she can be with Ran and Satoshi can be with Sawa. This plan ended unsuccessful and she decides to give up on stealing Ran away.

Yuri Shirakawa

Shirakawa Yuri (白河結李)

She Ran's beautiful ex-girlfriend. Popular with boys, she is the one who initially asked Ran out, but later broke up with him because he seemed indifferent about their relationship. She joins the student council at her school, Eika Academy—a sister school of Amabane— as it allows her to see Ran, whom she still loves. Eventually she asks him to date her again, but he rejects her because he said he already loves someone else. Yuri is initially saddened by this, but later becomes friends with Sawa.

Sae Konishi

Konishi Sae (小西紗映) Voiced By: Shiho Hisajima

Sawa's fun and loving mother who wanted to cosplay as Sawa in order to go to her school in the first chapter. She told Sawa's classmates that she was Sawa's sister the first time she met them. Sae is a very helpful and concerned mother. She and Sawa's father wanted to help Sawa sew the uniforms for Class 1-G, but Sawa rejected the offer. She gives Sawa advice now and then. She gets along very well with Sawa's classmates. At the end of the series, she has a third daughter named Che.

Kazutomo Konishi

Konishi Kazutomo (小西紗智) Voiced By: Tetsuharu Ōta

Sawa's father. Initially he had second thoughts on letting Sawa attend a school that was formerly a boys' school and had impressions that she was being bullied, but reconsidered these thoughts after seeing Sawa's friendship with the boys. He is very humble and selfless when it narrows down to his family's wants. Sawa believes his cooking to be the best, and according to his past, he confessed to Sae first.

Sachi Konishi

Konishi Sachi (小西紗智) Voiced By: Saori Goto

Sawa's baby sister. Sawa's classmates think that Sachi is very cute. In an extra chapter at the end of the series it shows that she has become a famous teen model thanks to Ogawa influencing her to work with him back when she was in grade school. After that she develops strong feelings for Ogawa and confesses to him on day after a photo shoot. He kindly rejects her, but then seeing her sad face tells her to wait until she's 18
