Lightspeed, a division of Lime Brokerage, is a brokerage firm that caters to individuals that are investing online and day trading in particular. The company offers an electronic trading platform for the purchase and sale of financial securities including common stocks, preferred stocks, futures contracts, exchange-traded funds, and options investments. It also provides margin lending and cash management services.
With customizable options chains available through the Lightspeed Trader platform, users can specify that they see only what pertains to their strategy. The platform can be condensed to only show traders what they need to see, it allows for complete control. Lightspeed’s online platform also allows for full personalization of order routing, hotkeys, and display. Additionally, traders can use the Lightspeed Trader platform to link their options chains to stock quotes, level II options quotes, times, and sales.
Lightspeed Trader also comes equipped with personalized advanced charting, which offers users an informative glimpse into everything from comparison charts and moving averages to relative strength indicators and Bollinger bands. With charts that track changes in real time, traders can benefit from having all pertinent information in one place, using that information to make better decisions and sharpen their market awareness in the fast-paced active trading environment.
Lightspeed is led by Farid Naib, Chief Executive Officer, as well as Tom Gibb and Kevin Ott acting as Co-Presidents. Brian Oliveira from Lime Brokerage will act as the CFO. Offices are in New York, Chicago, Boston, and Platteville, WI.
History
The company was formed by the spinoff of the professional trader of E-Trade in 2006. In 2008, Lightspeed acquired Integrity Trading.
In February 2010, Lightspeed acquired NobleTrading. In June 2010, Lightspeed received an exclusive license to operate the Anvil Professional Trading Platform. In October 2010, Lightspeed acquired Terra Nova Financial.
In June 2011, Lightspeed acquired Lime Brokerage International of Ireland. In July 2011, Lightspeed acquired Greenmoor Financial Group, which expanded its offerings in options.
In May 2018, Lightspeed Trading became a division of Lime Brokerage. Lime Brokerage is owned by Limelight Holdings LLC.[1]
