Les Misérables is a six-part BBC television adaptation of the French historical novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. The series is adapted by Andrew Davies and directed by Tom Shankland. It stars Dominic West, David Oyelowo and Lily Collins.[1] BBC Studios will handle distribution for the series.[2]
Based on the original novel, the miniseries will not include the songs from the Les Misérables musical.[3]

Production
The Weinstein Company was initially set to co-produce the series and serve as its distributor in the U.S. and China. However, the studio was dropped following the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations.[1]
Filming for the series began in February 2018 in Belgium and Northern France.[4]
