Leon Grochowski in 1923

Leon Grochowski (11 October 1886 – 17 July 1969) was a bishop of the Polish National Catholic Church. He was born in Skupie, Poland, and emigrated to the United States in July 1905, on the S/S Bremen which sailed from Bremerhaven, Germany, to the Port of Baltimore, Maryland; he became a United States citizen in 1923. He was elected bishop on July 15, 1924, and was consecrated to the episcopate on August 17, 1924. Grochowski served as bishop of the Western Diocese of the Polish National Catholic Church, and as the third diocesan bishop of the Central Diocese of the Polish National Catholic Church. He became Prime Bishop of the PNCC on the death of Franciszek Hodur in 1953. He died in Warsaw on July 17, 1969.
