History

Founded in Tampa, Florida, in 1976, Lazydays was originally owned by the Wallace family, which included Herman and his sons Don and Ron. Lazydays was founded with only two travel trailers and $500.[5] During its first five years, the dealerships limited itself to selling travel trailers and mini motorhomes. Sales grew to $13 million by 1980 and $50 million by 1983. Herman Wallace retired in 1993 and Don Wallace took over the business. Bought in 2004 by LDRV Holdings Corp, Lazydays Tampa which claims to have the largest single site RV center in the country.[6][7] The current Chairman & CEO is William P. "Bill" Murnane.[8]

Lazydays established a second location in 2011 in Tucson, Arizona, when it purchased a dealership owned by Beaudry RV.[9] Lazydays acquired three dealerships in Colorado from RV America and Discount RV Corner, which are located in Denver, Longmont and Loveland. With the acquisition of the dealership in Loveland, Lazydays RV is now home to the world's largest indoor showroom. In August, 2018 Lazydays brought their total number of dealerships to 6 with the purchase Shorewood RV in Anoka, Minnesota.

Sponsorships

In 2015, Lazydays announced their partnership with the University of Florida Gators.[10] to sponsor sanctioned tailgating events held in the campus RV lots for official college sports events. In 2016, Lazydays announced a partnership with the NFL's Denver Broncos [11] and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To support Denver football, Lazydays sponsored the Broncos’ Salute to Fans Tour. For the tour, Lazydays provided the team a branded Broncos RV, which they traveled in throughout Colorado to meet with fans at various major cities, starting at the Lazydays Denver RV showroom. Giveaways and prizes were awarded at each stop, autographs were signed and personalities including players, cheerleaders and Miles the Mascot were present to meet with fans. With the Buccaneers, Lazydays hosts fan events, provides customer hospitality at home games and manages community relations programs.
