Kingston Students Rowing Club (KSRC) is the rowing club of Kingston University London.[1] The club shares a boathouse in Canbury Gardens with Kingston Rowing Club and Tiffin School Boat Club.

History

KSRC was founded in 1972 as the Kingston Polytechnic Boat Club (KPBC). After 1992, Kingston Polytechnic was granted university status and the club changed its name to Kingston University Boat Club (KUBC). In 2011, KUBC was reorganised into Kingston Students Rowing Club. Today the club relies on donations from alumni and an annual membership to care for the upkeep of their boats and equipment.

Squads

KSRC club has beginner, intermediate and senior crews who all compete at races throughout the season. In recent years, the senior squad has integrated with Kingston Rowing Club's development squad. This has seen student-athletes compete nationally and internationally in events such as Henley Royal Regatta.

Governance

The club is run by a committee of 5 elected members, including the President, Men's Captain, Women's Captain, Social Secretary and Treasurer. Committee members are elected each year in March.

Future prospects of the club

In recent years the Club has expressed its desire to both expand its relationship with the Union of Kingston Students and build a new dedicated boat house on the River Thames which could provide an alternative to the overcrowded facilities used by the club at the Canbury Gardens boathouse.
