Keith Tyree Powers (born August 22, 1992) is an American actor and model. He is best known for his roles as Ronnie Devoe in BET's mini series The New Edition Story and Tyree in the film Straight Outta Compton.

Early life and modeling career

Powers was born in Sacramento, California, to Jennifer Clark (formerly Powers) and Keith Powers, Sr., the oldest of a family of four children. He started modeling at 9 years old, influenced by his mother, but developed a passion for sports. He played football as a wide receiver at Sheldon High School. After graduating in 2010, he moved to Los Angeles with his father to focus on modeling, signing with the Wilhemina Agency.[1] He walked for Calvin Klein at the 2014 Men's Fashion Week in Milan, modeled in Sears and JCPenny ads, did a cover for Sketchers, and became the face of Aeropostale..

Acting career

In 2013 Powers landed a role in the movie House Party: Tonight's the Night.[2] After flying to South Africa for shooting, he fell in love with acting and decided to make it his main occupation. He played Gutta in the BET hip hop anthology series Tales,[3] and Cameron Drake in the Netflix original film Reality High.[4] He had a recurring role on the MTV series Faking It[5] and has since become known for his part as Tyree in the film Straight Outta Compton. He was cast as Ronnie DeVoe in The New Edition Story and since April 2017 has co-starred in Famous in Love on Freeform.[2][6][7]
