Kavin ( born 22 June 1990) is an Indian film and television actor and television presenter.

He began his career in Star Vijay as a television actor. He appeared in the third part of the serial Kana Kaanum Kaalangal as Shiva. Later on, he played the role of Murugan in the serial Saravanan Meenatchi . Further, he was approached to play the main lead in its sequel Saravanan Meenatchi (season 2) . His role as Vettaiyan aka Saravana Perumal is breakthrough point of his career which made him popular among audience. He also appeared in the film Indru Netru Naalai in a cameo appearance as heroine pair. He has hosted the reality show Kings of Dance (season 2) and Vijay Television Awards on Star Vijay. He appeared in the movie Sathriyan by S. R. Prabhakaran . His upcoming film is Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma as the lead role along with Remya Nambeesan

Career

2011-16

While doing his graduation, Kavin had been attending auditions in Star Vijay which marked his first appearance in television through the serial Kana Kaanum Kaalangal as Shiva. Then, he was offered a role in the film Pizza which was his debut to the film industry. Later on, he acted in the serial Thayumanavan (TV series) as Vicky. Later in 2012, he had acted in the serial Saravanan Meenatchi as Murugan (supporting role). Further, he received the opportunity to be part of Saravanan Meenatchi (season 2) as Vettaiyan which paved the way to his fame. Though he was introduced in it for a supporting role, he gradually became the main lead of the plot. This gave him immense fame and prominence. He won the Vijay Television Awards for Favourite Actor Male for the serial in the year 2015. He was also the co-host of Vijay Television Awards 2015. During this period, he had appeared in the film Indru Netru Naalai in a cameo role.

2016–Present

As Saravanan Meenatchi (season 2) culminated, he announced that he would not be doing serials anymore. Hence, he hosted the Vijay Television Awards 2017 with anchor Ramya Subramanian. He had also hosted the reality show Kings of Dance (season 2) and other programs in Star Vijay

Later in 2017, he was offered a full length character in the film Sathriyan (2017 film) . He acted the role of Dr. Chandran in the above film alongside Vikram Prabhu , Manjima Mohan and other prominent actors. His upcoming film include Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma in which he appears as the male lead alongside Remya Nambeesan . The film is expected to be released soon. His tie up with S. R. Prabhakaran for Sathriyan is iterated in their new venture in which Kavin appears as the male lead. The name of the film hasn't been declared yet.

Personal life

Kavin was born to Mr. Pradeep Raj and Mrs. Mary in Tiruchirappalli. Kavin, while pursuing Bachelor degree in Chemistry, was selected in an audition conducted by Star Vijay. Later, he dropped his studies and attended a training session on acting which marked the beginning of his career.
