KRBB is a radio station operating in Wichita, Kansas that identifies itself as "97.9 B98," owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. Its studios are located in Northeast Wichita and the transmitter is located outside Colwich, Kansas.

History

KRBB is the oldest FM station in Wichita, as it signed on September 19, 1948 at 100.3 MHz under the call letters KFH-FM. Like most FM stations at the time, it was a simulcast of its AM sister station. In 1965, KFH-FM relocated to its current frequency. Two years later, KFH-FM broke from the AM simulcast and flipped to progressive rock as "Channel 97." In October 1971, it flipped to easy listening as KBRA. In the summer of 1982, KBRA adjusted its format to adult contemporary as "KB-98." Two years later, KBRA changed call letters as KLZS, rebranded as "Class FM 98" (which later became "Magic 98"), and tweaked its format to include more new age and jazz music. The long association with KFH-AM was discontinued in 1988, as the two stations were sold to separate owners.

On October 12, 1989, at Noon, the station adopted its current format as "B98 FM." The station's morning show was long hosted by Brett Harris and Tracy Cassidy; Harris would be released from the station in July 2012, while Cassidy would be released in May 2014.[1][2]

The B98 Morning Show features co-hosts Lukas Cox and Careth. Former co-hosts include Theresa Vail (Miss Kansas 2013).[3]
