John Milton Mackie

John Milton Mackie (born in Wareham, Massachusetts, 19 December 1813; died in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, 27 July 1894) was a United States writer who specialized in topics from German history and literature.

Biography and Works

He graduated from Brown University in 1832, and studied at the University of Berlin, Germany, 1833-1834. On his return to the United States, he was tutor at Brown 1835-1838. Besides contributing to the North American, American Whig, and Christian reviews chiefly papers relating to German history and literature, Mackie published:
