John Ivory-Talbot

John Ivory-Talbot (?1691-1772), of Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire, was an English politician. [1]

He was the eldest son of Sir John Ivory of New Ross, County Wexford by Anne, eldest daughter and coheiress of Sir John Talbot, M.P., of Lacock Abbey. He entered Christ Church, Oxford in 23 Apr. 1707. He succeeded to his grandfather's Wiltshire estates, (including Lacock Abbey), in 1714. He made substantial alterations to the Abbey in the Gothic Revival style in the 1750s.

He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of Great Britain for Ludgershall for 1715 - 1722 and for Wiltshire for 1727 to 1741.

He married Mary, the daughter of Thomas Mansel, M.P., 1st Baron Mansel of Margam and left 2 sons and a daughter. Lacock Abbey passed to their eldest son John.
