Jaurasi is a small hill town in Almora district has a beautiful idyllic mountain range between Sult and Dwarahat Legislative Assemblies and in the centre of Ramganga and Vinod rivers, which is an idyllic mountain range situated in the springs of nature, at an altitude of 6500 feet. This mountain range is also known as Jaurasi Range. It starts from the Sangam of Kedar of Ram Ganga and Vinod River, reaching the highest peak of Doodhatoli. Its most important feature is that it is situated on the combined boundaries of three districts of Uttarakhand, Almora, Chamoli and Pauri. Being at high altitude, there is a huge shortage of water, which is also the main reason for the exodus from here. Only a few elderly people have remained in the village. Today this region filled with self-reliance.

Scenic spots

  • Jaurasi Bhagwati Mandir - Bhagwati Mandir is situated in the middle of Jaurasi and is built by Omi Baba.
  • Bhairav Mandir - Located 1.5 kilometers from Jaurasi. From here the range of Himalayas can be seen. The bungalow settled by the British has now been transformed into a guest house by the Forest Department.
  • The Asurgarhi Mandir - At a height of about 7,000 feet, it is situated at the highest point in the Jaurasi region. This is the temple of Asur Mata. The local people have changed temple name Asur to Asuragari Temple. On the first day of the month of Bhadra, there is also a fair every year on the day of Ghee Saakranti.
  • Lakhanpur Mandir - About two kilometers away from Jaurasi, the statue has been inhabited by the Katyuri kings. The weapons used in the battle of the Katari kings are still present here.
