Tasman

Grooby made his debut for Tasman in 2018 when the Mako played Canterbury at Lansdowne Park in Blenheim although Grooby did not have a Mako contract, he started the match with Finlay Christie and Billy Guyton injured. Grooby played a crucial part in Tasman's 25-17 victory over Canterbury. Grooby has since appeared in every match apart from in Round 3 against North Harbour for the Mako in 2018, mainly off the bench replacing Finlay Christie. However on the 23rd of September 2018, Billy Guyton retired from rugby, making Grooby the second choice halfback for 2019.
