Jürgen Van der Velde was a professional Belgian football player who played as a goalkeeper. Since 2016 he is active as a football ambassador for Aberdeen Football Club.

Club career

Jurgen played professionally for R.W.D. Molenbeek in Belgium from 1995 after being signed by Herman Van Holsbeeck, the current general manager of RSC Anderlecht.

After impressing on trials with English side Cambridge United FC in 2002 he suffered a severe quadriceps injury.

Van der Velde made his way back and continued playing in Belgian National Divisions for years until the age of 37.

International career

He got several caps for the Belgium national under-21 football team. He also played for his country's B-squad.

Professional life

Polyglot Van der Velde masters the Chinese Mandarin language.
Between 2007 and 2014 he has been active as an entrepreneur and booked successes as a product designer.
The 1st of June 2016 Van der Velde held a press conference in Beijing where he introduced his football training methodology in front of
all major Chinese media, the Ministry of Sports and clubs Beijing Sinobo Guoan F.C and Beijing Enterprises Group F.C.
In 2017 he started working as a football consultant and ambassador.
