International Highschool of Gothenburg Region
The International High School of the Gothenburg Region (IHGR) is a municipal high school in the Västra Götaland county, Sweden. The school was founded in 2001. The first students began studying there 19 August that same year. All classes are taught in English, the official language of the school, but a Swedish curriculum is followed. The school has its own library. Since IHGR is an international school, there are students studying there from different countries; as many as 15 nationalities are represented. These nationalities had the chance to be presented at project days that the school organizes called "The world culture days", which does not exist anymore. These were held every year by second graders from the school, at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg city. The school is located in the heart of Gothenburg, sharing a building together with the primary international school, ISGR (International School of the Gothenburg region). IHGR is a relatively small school with 350 students and 21 teachers.

Most students study at IHGR as preparation for further studies abroad. Approximately 20 % of all the students study abroad when done with high school education, a few of them in England. Around 80 % of the remaining students study in Sweden.
Natural Science programme
Currently IHGR has one Natural Science Programme class per year. Within this program you will study: Mathematics 1c – 4, Physics 1 and 2, Biology 1 and 2 and Chemistry 1 and 2. Since studies at IHGR prepare you for continued studies at university they keep a close relationship with these institutions. During the time at IHGR you will become acquainted with Chalmers Technical University.
The Natural Science Programme at IHGR prepares one for higher studies within a wide range of possibilities, from technology to medicine, from health to environment and other natural sciences.
The Natural Science Programme concentrates on traditional sciences such as mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology but the learning experiences are not always traditional.
Within the individual choice subjects there are several opportunities to combine academics with sports, art, or computer skills. Other alternatives are higher mathematic courses, marketing, psychology or speech.

Social science
The Social Science program prepares you for higher studies within the whole field of humanities. The profile always remains international, putting global at the forefront.
Traditional Social Science subjects taught are Civics, History, Religion, Geography, Philosophy and Psychology. Other characteristic subjects are International Relations as well as Leadership & Organisation. The individual choice subjects make it possible to combine academics with, for example, art, sports or speech.
To add to the international feel of the school, there are special annual events, for example:
UN Role-Play - which is a part of the International Relations course and is something that Social Science students look forward to. Field trips abroad - which students can apply to, in order to get hands-on experience of some of the things learned in the classrooms. Examples of destinations for these field trips are Senegal, Hungary and Scotland.
