The Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon (GLIM), (formerly Great Lakes Institute of Energy Management and Research) is a private business school in India. It began its operations in 2010 and is an extended arm of the Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, founded by Dr. Bala V. Balachandran. The Institute offers various full-time and executive management programs with the one-year Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) being its flagship course. Great Lakes also offers a two-year full-time AICTE approved Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) (formerly, Post Graduate Program in Management - Energy).

The institute considers the scores of GMAT, CAT, XAT, and CMAT for its admission process and attracts professionals with 2 plus years of experience for its flagship PGPM course. Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, sits on a 7.2-acre residential campus situated on the Bilaspur-Tauru Road.

History

Great Lakes was founded in 2010 by Dr. Bala V. Balachandran, JL Kellogg Distinguished Professor of Accounting and Information Management at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA. Unlike its Chennai campus, Great Lakes, Gurgaon, started its operations with the two-year Post Graduate Program in Energy Management.

Following the graduation of the first batch of its two-year program, the institute started offering its flagship one-year PGPM program for experienced professionals in 2012. Both the Chennai & Gurgaon campuses of the Institute follow a model similar to Indian School of Business (ISB), involving a flagship one-year MBA program, international academic collaborations and global visiting faculty.

After initially conducting classes and operations out of a rented property in the suburbs of the city, Great Lakes developed a 7.2-acre residential campus in the outskirts of Gurgaon which became operational in 2016. AICTE approval for both its full-time MBA programs followed shortly after. Following which, the two-year post graduate programme in energy management got converted into Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).

Campus

The entire campus is wi-fi enabled and houses two academic blocks with lecture theatres, gymnasium, resource centre, and cafeterias among other amenities; and hostels for men and women with a capacity of housing approximately 300 students. There is a 300-seater amphitheatre for hosting cultural events on campus. The Great Lakes Gurgaon campus is located just off NH8, close to Manesar at the Bilaspur-Tauru road and is easily accessible from the corporate hubs of New Delhi and Gurgaon as well as from IGI Airport.
