Infosys BPM operates in India, Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, United States, Puerto Rico, China, Philippines, Singapore, and Australia.

History

The company was started as Progeon Limited in April 2002 and is today amongst the top BPMs in India according to NASSCOM.[3] It was started as a 74% and 26% joint venture between Infosys and Citibank Investments. In 2006, Infosys bought out Citibank's share at a price of Rs. 592 per share, Citibank having invested at Rs 0.20 per share.[4]

Operations

Infosys BPM operates in India, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Puerto Rico, China, the Philippines, Singapore, and Australia. It is headquartered in Bangalore, India. About 60% business of Infosys BPM comes from overlapping clients with the parent Infosys Ltd.[5] During the FY 2013-14, it earned 48% of its revenue from North America, 34% from Europe, 4% from India and remaining 14% from other parts of the world.[6] The proportion of voice and non-voice related revenue was 11:89 in the same financial year.[6]

Acquisitions

  • In September 2012, Infosys BPM acquired US-based Marsh BPO for an undisclosed amount to expand its group life insurance activities. Marsh BPO, based in Des Moines, Iowa has 87 employees and serves seven insurers and covers more than 600,000 insured lives. Marsh BPO will be absorbed in McCamish Systems.[7][8]
  • In January 2012, Infosys BPM acquired Australia-based Portland Group for about AUD 37 million.[9] Portland Group provides strategic sourcing and category management services.[10]
  • In December 2009, Infosys BPM acquired Atlanta-based McCamish Systems for about $38 million.[11]
  • In July 2007, Infosys BPM signed a $28 million deal to acquire finance back-offices of Royal Philips spread in India, Poland and Thailand.[12][13]

Its organic growth performance has been rated as exemplary and best amongst its peers by a leading BPM research firm.[14] It is taking over competitors’ share with increased on-site presence.[15] In FY15 the company plans to hire 14,000 employees to further its growth performance.[16] Infosys BPM recently launched its Process Progression Model[17] to improve business outcomes for clients by accelerating optimization and transformation of business processes. The company also extended its outsourcing agreement with Royal Philips till June 2019.[18]
