I'd Fly

"I'd Fly" is the English-language version of the French song "Pour Elle", composed by Richard Cocciante and Jean-Paul Dreau, with original English lyrics written by Roxanne Seeman. "Pour Elle" is a hit song by Richard Cocciante in French, Italian and Spanish.[1] The French lyrics by Dreau were adapted into Italian with the title "Per Lei" and into Spanish with the title "Para Ella". For the English language version, Roxanne Seeman wrote original English lyrics.[2]

“I'd Fly was first recorded by Richard Cocciante with Francesca Bellenis for his album "Un Uomo Felice" released by Sony Italy, 1994. All of the songs on "Un Uomo Felice" are in Italian except "I'd Fly".

Other versions

In the mid-1990s, Patricia Kaas recorded a version of "I'd Fly" during recording sessions produced by Joel and Adam Dorn for an album that was ultimately not released.[3]

"I'd Fly" was recorded in 1999 by Diane Schuur on Atlantic Records produced by Ahmet Ertegun, Shane Keister, and Yves Beauvais during the recording sessions for "Music Is My Life". It was decided that the song would not fit into an album of songs from the American Songbook, so it was not included in the album release. When Diane Schuur was making her next album for Concord Records, she played "I'd Fly" for Phil Ramone, who produced the song for Schuur's "Friends For Schuur" album. The sessions took place at Ocean Way in Hollywood. Richard Cocciante recorded his guest vocal for "I'd Fly" in London. Paula Edelstein of allmusic.com wrote "I'd Fly" is a definite smooth jazz hit. She (Diane Schuur) sings its sexy, but beautifully contoured melody, romantic lyrics with such yearning and passion that this late-night romantic ballad should land solidly on the charts.[4]
