The Hong Kong grouper (Epinephelus akaara) is a species of fish in the family Serranidae. It is found in China, Japan, North Korea, Taiwan, and possibly Vietnam. Its natural habitats are shallow seas and coral reefs.

As other fish, the Hong Kong grouper harbours parasites, including, among others, the diplectanid monogenean Pseudorhabdosynochus satyui, parasitic on the gills.
