Royal Guard Brigade - Hamza Ibn Abd Al-Muttalib (Sayed Al-Shuhada) is a unit of the Jordanian Armed Forces, The Royal Guards Brigade is one of the most elite unites of the Jordanian army and is primarily responsible for the protection and defense of the royal Hashemite dynasty.
The Royal Guards are based in Amman. They are largely recruited from the most loyal Bedouin tribes of the east bank of Jordan The Royal guards brigade is not to be confused with the king’s Circassian Bodyguard who are primarily ceremonial.
The Royal Guards Brigade are under the direct personal control of the King. There is also a special bodyguard unit assigned to King Abdullah, called His Majesty’s Special Security Group. The special security unit is responsible for the close personal security of the king and is basically the Jordanian equivalent of the U.S. Secret Service. It was commanded by the king's brother, Prince Ali.[1][2]
The current commander is Brigadier General Ogla Ghammar Al Zboun since June 2010.
