Henry D. Abelove is an American academic and literary scholar. He was a Professor of English at Wesleyan University until 2011, and he was the inaugural F.O. Matthiessen Visiting Professor of Gender and Sexuality at Harvard University in 2012.
Early life
Abelove graduated from Harvard University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree.[1] He earned a master of arts degree from Wesleyan University, followed by an MPhil and a PhD from Yale University.[1]
Career
Abelove was the Willbur Fisk Osborne Professor of English at Wesleyan University until 2011.[1][2] He was the inaugural F.O. Matthiessen Visiting Professor of Gender and Sexuality at Harvard University in 2012.[2]
Abelove is the author several books, and the co-editor of The Lesbian and Gay Studies Reader.
Personal life
Abelove is gay.[3]
