Location of Hacienda Gripiñas in the center of Puerto Rico

Hacienda Gripiñas is a lodging located in the town of Jayuya, Puerto Rico.

In 1863, Don Eusebio Pérez del Castillo established the Gripiñas hacienda (or estate) in the sector of Gripiñas, barrio of Veguitas, Jayuya. Gripiñas dedicated itself to the plantation of coffee and contributed to the growth of this industry in the island during the 19th century. Pérez and his wife died in the last years of the 19th century, as the coffee plantation industry decayed in the island. At this time, Jaime Oliver Mayol acquired the estate and in 1904, its coffee(?) product won a gold medal(?) at a fair in Louisiana.

In 1975 the estate was turned into a lodging for tourists visiting the town of Jayuya and nearby towns.
