Gus' Pretzels for sale at Tower Grove and Magnolia, April 2013

Gus' Pretzels is a pretzel bakery and snack counter in the Benton Park neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, United States.[1] It opened in 1920, located at 1820 Arsenal Street near the Anheuser-Busch brewery. Gus' is a third generation family business. They hand-make pretzels in an open kitchen near where they are sold with dips and condiments such as mustard and cheese sauces. Fresh pretzels are emblematic of the German American culture and community that have been prominent in St Louis.[2][3] So much so that a St. Louis variety of pretzel, a long breadstick-shaped type, has been commonly sold by the brown bag full on busy street corners. Gus's Pretzels has been a baker for these street vendors, though only a few remain.[4]
