John Greenhalgh (1796-1875), son of John Greenhalgh, married Mary Shaw, daughter of Rachel Shaw, in 1814 in Bury, Lancashire, England. John was transported to Australia in 1820. Mary and two sons joined him in 1823. They settled in Castlereagh, New South Wales, Australia. They had seven children. John was sentenced to prison in 1830. Mary then lived with John Smith (d. 1847) and they had five children. Includes Upton and related families.
