Great Central Lake is one of the premier recreational lakes on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Great Central Lake is 35 kilometers long, with an area of 49 square kilometers, and 333 meters deep. The lake is long and narrow, with the exception of Trestle Bay located on the east end of the lake. The lake is nestled beneath low mountains, with second-growth forest surrounding most of the lake. The relatively steep shoreline has kept Great Central Lake relatively undeveloped. The water level is controlled by a dam on the east side of the lake.

Fishing, boating, skiing, wakeboarding, swimming, hiking, camping, and ATVing are common activities carried out on and around the lake. Notable features of Great Central Lake and the immediately surroundings include the natural waterslides at Dorothy Creek and Della Falls, as well as the city of Port Alberni. The waters of the lake are so clear that 30 ft seems like almost 10 ft. Great Central Lake is the headwaters of the Stamp River, a popular location for steelhead salmon fishing.

Population: approximately 70. The Trestle RV Park on Trestle Bay is includes 40 large, fully serviced, recreational lots. The development is over 60% sold out. There are also a number of float houses along the shoreline of Great Central Lake. Finally, Great Central Lake RV Resort & Marina is a private campsite offering seasonal rentals, based on a four month minimum.

Della Falls Trail

Della Falls is one of the highest waterfall in all of Canada at 440 meters high and a sight to behold. Della falls trail is a 7 hour hike to the base of Della Falls in the Strathcona Provincial Park. There are various campsites along the trail. A local fellow offers water taxi services to the trail head.

Nearby Urban Centres

Port Alberni is Great Central Lake's closest urban center, approximately 16 kilometers away from the Great Central Lake RV Resort campsite. Port Alberni offers various services including kayak rentals, paddle board rentals, grocery stores, and fishing charters and equipment suppliers.
