Goodachari (English: Spy) is a 2018 Indian Telugu language spy thriller film directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka.[1] The film stars Adivi Sesh, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Madhu Shalini in the lead roles, while Prakash Raj, Jagapati Babu, Supriya Yarlagadda, and Vennela Kishore appear in supporting roles. The film features music composed by Sricharan Pakala, Cinematography by Shaneil Deo and editing by Garry Bh. The film was released on 3 August 2018 to positive reviews, and became a sleeper hit.[2]. The film grossed ₹25 crore (US$3.5 million) in its first weekend.[3]

Plot

Gopi, alias Arjun (Adivi Sesh), is brought up by his uncle Satya, (Prakash Raj) after the death of his father Raghuveer during a classified mission. Arjun dreams of joining the Indian foreign intelligence agency R. A. W. and serve the country but despite several applications, he doesn't get any response. So he decides to mention his father's name under family history with the organization in the application form and gets recruited (through a staged scenario) by "Trinetra", a wing of R.A.W that reports directly to the PMO. Satya finds out about this and argues against this decision as he is afraid of losing Gopi but relents. Trinetra's chief, Damodar(Anish Kuruvilla) briefs his new recruits about their primary target Al-Mujahidin, a terrorist outfit based in several countries and it's chief called Rana, whose identity remains unknown despite several attempts. Meanwhile, he starts dating Dr Sameera Rao (Sobhita Dhulipala) a psychologist graduated from Harvard University and the girl next door. Sameera introduces her uncle as her father. He discovers this and confronts her about this but Sameera confesses that her father died in an accident and she now considers her uncle as her father. Seeing how he's in a similar situation Gopi confesses about his true identity as well.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that Al-Mujahidin knows all about Trinetra and works on a plan known as "Mission Gopi" and follows him wherever he goes. Gopi notices an Al-Mujahidin member near the Trinetra office (disguised under "TailorMan" Clothing showroom) and follows him. After some chase and struggle he obtains a clue '1112' from the Al-Mujahidin agent. The Trinetra team assumes that it's an attack plan which on 11 December which is a month but couldn't find the target of this attack, so they keep a close watch. On the day of graduation, Achari (Swaraj Rebbapragada), a senior official and founder of Trinetra, arrives as a chief guest of the ceremony. Sameera suggests that Gopi present a champagne bottle to Damodar instead of going empty-handed. At the graduation, all recruits get their postings. Mohammad Basha (Rakesh Varre) gets selected for primary security detail, including escorting Achari. Leena Raajan (Madhu Shalini) is assigned to reconnaissance for Dhaka network through the Indian embassy in Dhaka. Gopi, who masters all skills such as hacking and hand-to-hand combat, gets selected as an undercover agent who's identified with only a number "116". His primary job is to infiltrate, recon, sabotage and even assassinate, all behind the enemy lines. Should he be discovered R.A.W would disavow him.

He'll be assisted by his former trainers Nadiya Qureshi (Supriya Yarlagadda), who oversees the operations and Shaam (Vennela Kishore) her trusted aid and technical lead. After the inauguration and reaching home Gopi realizes his mistake i.e the code could also mean 12 November, the same day and that the target is none other than Achari himself. Gopi tries to warn Basha but it's too late as the convoy is under attack already. Basha is mortally injured and Achari gets killed while the assailants flee. At the same time in the Trinetra office, Damodar dies of poisoning as he takes a sip of the champagne presented by Gopi. This happens while he is having a conversation with his friend and former R. A. W. agent and Gopi's Uncle Satya, so he tries to warn Gopi regarding the same. Then Gopi reads the news flash that he is the prime suspect of the attack on the convoy and PMO issues an arrest warrant and he's flagged as a wanted terrorist. Sameera enters his apartment at the same time and gets killed in the cross-fire as Gopi is attacked by Al-Mujahideen members and flees the apartment as a special task force attacks his apartment. He manages to reach Rajahmundry where his uncle resides and they both deduce that there is a mole in Trinetra.

Gopi decides to find out this mole and the real identity of Rana and sets out despite being a wanted terrorist now. On basis of clues, he decided to go out of India. Meanwhile, Nadiya and Shaam appointed to catch Gopi then in a media prime time watch a reporter shows Gopi Rajahmundry's visuals in their channel. Then to investigate Shaam went to Rajahmundry but he didn't find out any. Meanwhile, a phone call received by Nadiya in Arjun's phone learns that he has a personal account in a private bank which she possesses that as a CBI officer then she observes about Gopi past and now why he was living as Arjun. At the same time, Rana (Jagapati Babu) is revealed to be Trinetra agent turned rogue. He came to know that his plan was failed then he makes another plan to nab Gopi instructs Khan one of his Rajahmundry's counterpart. According to Khan's sources, he also cannot find Gopi's hideout but he saw Gopi in a market and chases him but Gopi manages to escape from him successfully. Then Gopi reaches Visakhapatnam airport to escape. But local police searching for him in the airport. Then Gopi recognised a person who pretends to be Sameera's Uncle and suspects him. Then Gopi beats him up and before he could ask the person who he is he consumes cyanide and dies. When checking his purse he finds out the real identity of Sameera sheikh. She is a psychology graduate in Harvard who belongs to Chittagong, Bangladesh. While in the travelling to Kolkata. With the help of Satya, he cracks all the clues. Then he understands that Sameera is also one of the members of Al-Mujahidin and he understands that he was completely trapped by Al-Mujahidin.

Gopi then goes to Bangladesh to further investigate who Sameera's plan was. There he is accompanied by Leena and infiltrate the terrorist base, where he finds out that Rana is none other than his own biological father Raghuveer, who was the terrorist that has leaked the classified Trinetra information and when he was the one shot by Satya at the starting glimpse of the film. Rana Kidnaps Satya and then orders Gopi to surrender. Gopi then is met by Rana and Rana tries to reason with gopi that he has waited 20 years to reunite with him and to get to him he was one who planned out to frame Gopi as a terrorist so that Gopi could reconcile with him as he would have no choice than be with his Father. Gopi then reveals that the entire event is watched by Trinetra through his eyewear and Trinetra agents have already reached their location, A fight ensues with Gopi killing Rana, thus choosing his country over his father. A week later, Shaam visits Gopi and casually asks him how did he contact Trinetra when he was under the image of being a terrorist, Gopi outsmarts Shaam and it is later revealed that Shaam is the one who framed Gopi and is the Mole in Trinetra and Shaam is killed by Trinetra before he could harm Gopi.

It is revealed by Rana that Sameera was actually falling for Gopi forgetting her goal and that's why she was shot by Shaam at Gopi's apartment.

With Sameera gone, Gopi chooses to leave Trinetra, But Nadiya reminds him of his responsibility towards his country, with the scenes cuts towards a snowy place with Gopi continuing his mission as Goodachari and hinting towards a sequel.

In 2017, debutant director Sashi Kiran Tikka announced that he would be making a film with actor Adivi Sesh in the lead role with Sricharan Pakala as the music composer.[4] The first look poster of the film was released on 13 January 2018 coinciding with Sankranthi festival.[5]
