Godrej Nature’s Basket is a grocery and fresh food store. It is a venture of the Godrej Group.[5]

History

Godrej Nature’s Basket was founded in 2005 as a "world food store" [6] and now operates 35 physical stores in cities such as Mumbai, the National Capital Region of Delhi (NCR), Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad.[7] The retail chain sells fresh vegetables, fruits, cold cuts, meats, cheese, organic foods and dairy products.[8]

Today, it also operates as an online grocery store and mobile app platform which caters to 125 cities across India.[9][10][11]

Natures Basket acquired Mumbai-based online grocery store Ekstop.com in 2015 to strengthen online presence across 125 cities in India.[12]

In the year 2017, the brand made a 180° turnaround from being a "World Food Store" to being a "Daily Food Delights" store, which refers to be more inclined towards being a fresh quality neighborhood store that can be a customer's go-to place for grocery shopping.[13]

The Godrej Group worked with experts in the field to put together the Godrej Food Trends Report 2018. This report comprises inputs from over 50 chefs, bloggers, health experts, mixologists and even media professionals. As the name suggests, this report contains trends and predictions about the food buying habits of the customers. [14]

Key people

Tanya Dubash, is the executive director and chief brand officer at Godrej Group. She is currently on the Boards of Godrej Industries Limited, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Godrej Agrovet Limited and is the Chairperson of Godrej Nature's Basket.[15]

Avani Davda is the managing director of Godrej Nature's Basket, the retail chain of the Godrej Group. She was the former CEO of Tata Starbucks.[16][17] She comes with the rich experience of working across consumer-facing sectors of the Tata Group viz. Tata Global Beverages, Taj Hotels, Infiniti Retail, Tata Housing and Tata Infrastructure & Realty. [18]

In-house Brands

Godrej Natures Basket has three brands under its name for exotic and organic produce [19]

  • L'Exclusif : The L’Exclusif brand features a wide range of exotic products right from international gourmet, nuts to conserves, savories, digestives, chocolates and even creamy and delicious ice creams.
  • Healthy Alternatives : It is the signature brand of organic and healthy food that caters to the needs of health-conscious people. Under this the brand stocks an extensive range of ingredients such as the super-food quinoa, gluten-free pasta, multi-grain atta (flour), pulses, roasted seed mixes and many other products.
  • Nature's : A range of daily essentials by Nature’s Basket including Dry Fruits, Spices, Eggs, Vegetables, Rice, Pulses, Rice.

Twinkle Khanna launched the Godrej Nature's Basket Healthy Alternatives brand in Mumbai on 27 September 2016.[20][21]
