Giovanni Ricciardi (cellist)

Giovanni Ricciardi (born 1968 in Genoa) is an Italian cellist.

Ricciardi played at the age of six and graduated from the Niccolò Paganini Conservatory in his hometown. The solo career led him to play with prestigious symphonic orchestras in many theaters around the world, in Ricciardi has appeared with many of the major orchestras of South America, Europe and Asia, and worked with the most distinguished conductors.


Assistant to Michael Flaksman as a young boy with whom he studied and disseminated Antonio Janigro 's technique.

He has won numerous competitions including the international competition for the city of Stresa, the international competition for the Premio Rovere d'Oro, the national competition for stringed instruments in the city of Genoa.

He has recorded several CD s on a very wide repertoire ranging from Bach to Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Debussy, Fauré, Schumann, Brahms.

In 2015 he was a supporter and musical director of the first reunion of over 120 cellists in Genoa, a historic event for the city
