Giovanna Antonelli Prado (born March 18, 1976) is a Brazilian actress, television host and producer.[1][2]
Biography
Early life
She began her career at the age of 15 on the 1991 Clube da Criança program , which was screened at the extinct Rede Manchete and hosted by Angélica. In 1994, Giovanna debuted as an actress in the novel Tropicaliente, screened by Rede Globo, returning to Rede Machete and then making two novels, being recognized by Xica da Silva in 1996. After returning to Globo and having made some novels as coadjuvantes, among them Corpo Dourado (1998), Giovanna emerged to make the character Capitu, a luxury prostitute, in the novel Laços de Família (2000), by Manoel Carlos. Soon after it made its first protagonist in the novel O Clone (2001), of Gloria Perez.
With a successful success, the actress's career was divided between soap operas, miniseries and films, being A Casa das Sete Mulheres (2003) its first miniseries, and Avassaladoras (2002) its first film as protagonist. In 2004, she made her first villain in the novel Da Cor do Pecado (2004), by João Emanuel Carneiro, and between 2007 and 2010 she won roles as an antagonist in the novels Sete Pecados (2007), Três Irmãs (2008) and gained prominence as Dora in Viver a Vida (2009). Its popularity grew even more with the characters Helô, a delegate, in Salve Jorge (2012), once again Glória Perez, and Clara, her first lesbian character, in Em Família (2014), by Manoel Carlos. Recently, the actress also gained prominence in the cinema with the long S.O.S. Mulheres ao Mar, a blockbuster success, and also stood out like villain Atena in A Regra do Jogo.
1991–1999: Beginning of career and first works
The artistic career of the actress began in the children's show Clube da Criança by hosted Angélica, in the year 1991. Exhibited by the extinct Rede Manchete, Giovanna was one of the angeliquetes, stage assistants of the attraction.[3] Three years later, after some tests on Rede Globo, debuted in the novel Tropicaliente of Walter Negrão, displayed between May and December 1994.[3] At 18, Giovanna played Benvinda character in the novel.[4] Soon after, he returned to the Manchete to act in the plots Tocaia Grande (1995), by Duca Rachid, Mário Teixeira and Marcos Lazarini, as the protagonist Ressú, and Xica da Silva (1996) by Walcyr Carrasco, as Elvira, the villain of the plot.[5] The character was part of a love triangle and had a great highlight.[6] After successful headline returned to the globe, which served as Judy in Corpo Dourado (1998), by Antônio Calmon making a love triangle with the characters of Felipe Camargo and Fábio Jr.[7] After a participation as Violet prostitute in the novel Força de um Desejo,[8] of Gilberto Braga, joined the cast of the first Múltipla Escolha season Choose the series Malhação,[9] interpreting the character Isa, Character daughter of Nuno Leal Maia.[10]
2000–2006: Laços de Família, O Clone and Da Cor do Pecado
In 2000, the actress appeared to the great public, when interpreting another prostitute, Capitu, of Laços de Família, novel of Manoel Carlos. The chemistry with her love interest, actor Luigi Baricelli , captivated audiences and critics,[11] receiving numerous accolades and winning awards for Breakthrough Actress and two for Best Actress.[6] Also in 2000, he debuted in cinema with the film Bossa Nova , directed by Bruno Barreto , making a cameo.[12]
In 2001, following the success of Family Bonds, the actress played the protagonist Jade, a Muslim divided between love and religious obligations, in the novel O Clone by Gloria Perez.[13] Her character dictated fashion in the streets with veils, jewelry and exotic makeup that characterized the Muslim. Besides the great success in Brazil the character has conquered fans in several countries of the world in which the novel was exhibited. The novel earned him six awards, one of which was the Contigo Prize for Best Romantic Couple with Murilo Benício.[7] In 2002, in the movie Avassaladoras, it was Laura, a successful woman who seeks a boyfriend through a wedding agency. In the film, he made romantic pair with Reynaldo Gianecchini , with whom he would opposite in other works in the TV.[14] Participation in the film earned the actress the Crystal Lens Award for Best Actress at the Brazilian Film Festival in Miami.[9]
In 2003, Giovanna starred in the miniseries A Casa das Sete Mulheres, by Maria Adelaide Amaral and Walter Negrão, playing Anita Garibaldi. At that time, he received several accolades for his resourcefulness, originality and the way in which he disengaged himself from the brand of his previous character Jade, who launched it to stardom in Brazil.[15] Still this year he played the Virgin Mary in the film Maria, Mãe do Filho de Deus, directed by Moacyr Góes and in the theater with A Paixão de Cristo.[9] Her performance in the film was praised by some critics[16] but criticized by others who thought that the actress's performance lacked more brilliance.[17]
In 2004 she interpreted in the novel Da Cor do Pecado, by João Emanuel Carneiro, the character Barbara, making Giovanna dye her blond hair.[18] antagonist of the plot, was his first villainous career,[19] receiving critical acclaim for having managed to erase the memory of the characters with a reputation for good girl who did previously.[20] In the theater did with the actor Murilo Benício piece Dois na Gangorra, directed by Walter Lima Júnior and film the movie A Cartomante, directed by Wagner de Assis and Pablo Uranga.[21] The film itself was extremely criticized and is considered one of the worst films of 2004.[22][23]
2007–2010: Sete Pecados, Três Irmãs and Viver a Vida
In 2007, after two and a half years of reclusive TV, she returned to the video as Delzuite, protagonist of the first phase of the miniseries, Amazônia, de Galvez a Chico Mendes, by Glória Perez.[24] In the same year, he was the protagonist of the novel Sete Pecados of Walcyr Carrasco, where his character Clarice lived a love triangle with Dante (Reynaldo Gianecchini) and Beatriz Priscila Fantin).[25] He also appeared in the long film Caixa Dois, directed by Bruno Barreto, with the role of a secretary of a powerful banker, used like orange so that he receives a check of 50 million reals.[26] His performance received a negative critique, which he considered his participation "the weak point of the plot".[27]
In 2008, Giovanna showed her comic side, interpreting the clumsy and clumsy Alma Jequitibá, one of the protagonists of the novel Três Irmãs, by Antonio Calmon. In 2009, the actress returned to theaters, in the film Budapest, directed by Walter Carvalho, based on the book by Chico Buarque.[31] In the film, the actress appears naked for the first time in the movies as an egocentric television news anchor.[31]
Still in 2009 , she played the role of Dora in the novel Viver a Vida, marking the return of the actress in a novel by Manoel Carlos after almost 10 years. In the plot, Giovanna played Dora, a humble girl who goes to Búzios to try a new life and escape her ex-husband who is a bandit and father of his daughter, Rafaela (Klara Castanho). There she meets Marcos (José Mayer), with whom she lives a romance, and meets the Argentine friend Maradona (Mario José Paz). In the course of the plot, Dora becomes pregnant and does not know which of the two is the father.[7] His role was well received by critics, who assessed the actress Helena knocked (the protagonist of the plot) and stole the show.[32] Also in 2010, the actress played Chico Xavier's stepdaughter and her brothers in the adaptation of thework of Chico Xavier, in the film of thesame name.[6]
2011–2014: Aquele Beijo, Salve Jorge and Em Família
In 2011, Giovanna joined the cast of the novel Aquele Beijo, by Miguel Falabella, playing the character Cláudia, protagonist of the plot. The character of Giovanna, Claudia is betrayed by her boyfriend, Rubinho ( Victor Pecoraro ), with the daughter of the maid of his house. She travels to Cartagena, Colombia, to work and at the airport meets Vicente (Ricardo Pereira), a state prosecutor, who is going to the same place in order to end the engagement of his beloved. The two become great friends and end up falling in love. For her character, Giovanna won the award for Best Actress in the Contigo Award.[7] The following year was protagonist of the episode "A Venenosa de Sampa", of the series As Brasileiras ones , of Daniel Filho. In the episode, the actress plays a socialite who does everything for her rival not to go with the dress equal to yours at a party.[6]
In 2012, one of the protagonists of the novel Salve Jorge, by Glória Perez , emerged as the delegate of Heloísa .[33][34][35][36] The character conquered the public, mainly for its style, having its clothes and accessories most desired among women.[37]
In 2014 , she became one of the protagonists of the novel Em Família of Manoel Carlos, in which she played the character Clara, married to Cadu (Reynaldo Gianecchini), but who left her husband to live with the photographer Marina (Tainá Müller).[38] Still in 2014, the actress stars in the long-running S.O.S. Mulheres ao Mar, a romantic comedy. In the plot, Giovanna plays Adriana.[39] His character was well received by critics[39] and the film became a blockbuster, with a continuation confirmed for 2015.[40]
2015–present: A Regra do Jogo, Sol Nascente and Segundo Sol
In the same year, she is invited to participate in the novel by João Emanuel Carneiro , A Regra do Jogo,[41] in the role of the villain Athena Terremolinos.[42] Her character was the great highlight of the novel, the protagonist.
In 2016, Antonelli is invited to participate in the new novel of the 6, of Walther Negrão and Suzana Pires, Sol Nascente interpreting the protagonist Alice Tanaka, daughter of Kazuo Tanaka (Luis Mello) and making romantic pair with Mario (Bruno Gagliasso) and César (Rafael Cardoso).[43]
In 2017, is climbed to live the protagonist of the future novel of the 9, Segundo Sol, by João Emanuel Carneiro.[44]
Personal life
She is the daughter of Hilton Prado and Suely Antonelli, has a brother lawyer named Leonardo Pietro Antonelli, a nephew named Gabriel and a niece named Mina.[45] Her first dating was from 16 to 21 years. Then began to date the businessman Ricardo Medina, and on March 8, 2000 the marriage took place and in February 2002, they divorced [46]
When participating in the novel O Clone, fell in love with its romantic pair in the plot, the actor Murilo Benício. They started a relationship in 2002 and on May 24, 2005 Giovanna's first child was born and Murilo's second child, Pietro. In November of the same year, the couple's definitive separation took place.[47] Earlier, in April 2004, the first separation of the couple,[48] had a brief involvement with the businessman Alexandre Accioly.[49]
In 2005, she met the American businessman Robert LoCascio and they got engaged in Italy.[50] The engagement lasted only four months.[51]
In 2009, she ended the relationship with businessman Arthur Fernandes, the relationship lasted two years.[52]
She then began to date director Leonardo Nogueira,[53][54] on October 8, 2010, gave birth to the twin Antonia and Sophia, daughters of the marriage with Leonardo, with whom he lives together.[55] She longed to have a third child before her forties, but professional commitments made her postpone the decision for later.[56]
