Gautier Morberius

Gautier or Gualterus Morberius (died 1595) was the first printer to be based in the city of Liège, where he is known to have worked between 1560 and 1595.

His first publication in the city was the two-volume Breviarium in usum venerabilis ecclesiœ collegiatœ Sti Pauli Leodiensis in octavo, a breviary written by Jean Stouten exclusively for the canons of the Collégiale Saint Paul, of which Stouten was dean. The first volume was completed on 1 November 1560 and the second on 4 July 1561. Very few copies were printed and the only surviving copy of the work is now in the collection of the Bibliothèque Ulysse Capitaine and displayed at the Curtius Museum in the city.
