Akbar Hossain (known by the stage name Farooque; born August 18, 1948) is a Bangladeshi actor.[1] He is also a freedom fighter.[3] He earned National Film Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for the film Lathial in 1975 by the Government of Bangladesh.[2]

Early life

Farooque was associated with politics in Choy Dofa Andolon in 1966 and accused in 37 cases. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was his political idol.

Career

Farooque started his career in silver screen through th film Jolchobi in 1971.[1] Most of Farooque's work was associated with the actress Bobita.[4] He was founder member of Film Artist Association and acting president of Bongobondhu Sanskritik Jote.

Business career

He is also a businessman except his acting career. He is the Managing Director of Farooque Kniting and Dying Manufacturing Company situated in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.[5]

Personal life

    Farooque married Farjana Hossain.[7] They have two children - daughter Fariha Tabassum Hossain and son Rowshon Hossain.[9]
