The Fédération de crosse du Québec (FCQ) is the governing body of lacrosse in Quebec, Canada. Its purpose is to encourage the development of the sport of lacrosse in Québec and to contribute to the sport's growth internationally.
The Fédération has approximately 2000 members including players, coaches, referees and others. The FCQ governs all box, field, and women's field lacrosse in Québec. Box lacrosse is played uniquely by clubs and organizations across all minor, JR, and senior age levels. Box lacrosse is typically only played in the summer but winter leagues and tournaments aren't uncommon. In regards to major lacrosse The Fédération has two teams registered in the Ontario Lacrosse Association JrC league. The Fédération de crosse du Québec also has a SrB league which is considered semi-pro as some player make a paycheck. It is also not uncommon for National Lacrosse League professionals to be signed to a Quebéc SrB team, or any of the teams they encounter in league crossover games.
Field Lacrosse is typically played by high schools, colleges, and universities, either in the spring or the fall. There are also club leagues for field lacrosse in the Fédération de crosse du Québec but not many. Many lacrosse programs in the FCQ only start in high school. There are approximately 20 high schools, 5 colleges, and 10 universities who have field lacrosse teams registered with the Fédération.
