Eucalyptus melanophitra is a tree that is native to a small area along the south coast of Western Australia.[2]

The mallet tree typically grows to a height of 4 to 7 metres (13 to 23 ft) and has rough fllaky bark toward the bottom of the trunk. It blooms between February and March producing white flowers.

It is found on stony breakaways in a small area along the south coast to the east of Albany in the Great Southern region of Western Australia]] where it grows in skeletal soils over laterite.
